Module 14

As we all know, the political influence that the media has is difficult to characterize. What the media says about a specific topic always has an impact on what Americans think, (including political beliefs). The power of the media is indiscerptible, and it's getting more powerful each year. There are many ways of using the media and candidates use it in plenty of ways to share their thinking and to gain followers. One of the easy politics in the media is by doing political advertising. This type of advertising is to familiarize voters with the candidate and his or her views on campaign issues; also advertising for or against policy issues. I saw one example on the tv these past months, President Trump had an ad where he stated who he was and shared that he wanted the best for all Americans.  Another type of ad is the Attack Ads. We all know this type of ad because we have lots of them on the television (newspaper, etc.) before elections. This type of advertisement is the one that attacks the character of an opposing candidate. One example that I saw was the one where President Trump talked about how Biden did not want to protect Americans…. And in the ad, it's also mentioned how Biden is a “communist” and the one from Biden where he attacks Trump. As I mentioned before there were plenty of those ads before the elections. Those are just some of the ads we see on an everyday basis and sometimes those ads influence our thinking. The last thing I would like to mention is about Television Debates, and how they are very important for all citizens in their political thinking. The debates are a good way of showing citizens the candidate's ideas. Most of the time a debate can change a belief, I watched a program where people had an idea for which candidate they were voting but after the debate, they changed their minds. That's why the media i's very important in our democracy.
